At 15.00 o’clock on Monday 17/8/2020 the Lesvos Branch of the Hellenic Rescue Team received a call from the General Secretariat, Civil Protection, Lesvos, for the big fire that broke out in tha area “Kavaki”, of Petra, Lesvos. Immediately a unit of HRT Lesvos was mobilised under the orders of Civil Protection and the Fire Brigade Mytilene to operate on the spot.
In this difficult effort with enemy the strong north winds and the local vegetation, fire trucks, hiking units and aerial means managed to control the fire successfully. Congratulations to everyone, the Fire Service and the men who fought the fire, MAEDY, the Volunteer Firefighters, the North Aegean Region and the Municipality of Mytilene, the Municipality of West Lesvos and all the volunteers for the immediate intervention in extinguishing the dangerous fire that broke out yesterday in the area “Kavaki” of Petra.
Finally, we thank our volunteers for their presence, interest and zeal they show in every health coverage of the place.
