MISSION OF THE HELLENIC RESCUE TEAM TO TURKEY

30 trained volunteers of the Hellenic Rescue Team from all over Greece with a search and rescue dog and specialized equipment are leaving Thessaloniki this evening to support the search and rescue operations in the areas of Turkey affected by the devastating earthquake.

The mission of the Hellenic Rescue Team is expected to arrive tomorrow morning in Istanbul and from there to travel by air to Adana, accompanied by executives of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD), with which they will cooperate in the field.

The equipment to be used by HRT volunteers includes hydraulic rescue kits, extrication tools, thermal cameras, hazardous gas detectors, generators, telecommunications equipment, stretchers, defibrillators and other specialized First Aid equipment. In addition, all members of the HRT will bring all the necessary means of personal protection.

The Hellenic Rescue Team mission is supported by the Consulate of Turkey in Thessaloniki and the Turkish Embassy in Athens, to whom we sincerely thank.

We also thank Mrs. Christina Aspropotamiti for her undivided support and everyone who supported the realization of this mission!
