The maritime search and rescue (SAR) and air rescue training Aghialos 2022 took place again this year, from October 7 to 9, 2022, in the 111th Fighter Wing, by the Hellenic Rescue Team in collaboration with the Air Force.

The aim of this training is the development & learning of rescue techniques, which concern both the optimization of the management of a maritime search & rescue in cooperation with flying vehicles, as well as the joint training of Air Force crews with the rescuers of the Hellenic Rescue Team .

The training included both theoretical and practical subjects.

On Friday 07/10, the theoretical training and ground training in the SAR (Search and Rescue) helicopter took place.

On Saturday 08/10, practical exercises in sea rescue were carried out, in which the SAR helicopter of 358 Search and Rescue Squadron, rescue boats and the Rescue Runners of the Hellenic Rescue Team participated.

On Sunday 09/10 the debriefing of the exercise took place.

Members of the HRT Lesvos Branch traveled and were trained in this exercise, including a diver with full equipment and a lifeguard who was also trained as an Air Rescue Lifeguard (Rescue Swimmers).

This year the Hellenic Rescue Team is celebrating 46 years of operational cooperation and active participation in air rescues with the armed forces (1976 – 2022), and 15 years of its educational cooperation with the Air Force, the 111th Fighter Wing and the 358th Air Force.
