Two days training for our volunteers

On Saturday and Sunday 26th and 27th of March, a two day training for the members of the Hellenic Rescue Team of Lesvos Branch was held.

Specifically, on Saturday 26th of March, a total of 6 volunteers of our team were certified in the PBLS Provider Course.

The first certified seminar of Basic Life Support with the use of Automatic External Defibrillator for children and infants was conducted in the hospitable rooms of the Institute Vocational Training (IEK) of Vostaneio Hospital by Health Care Education and Training.

After the completion of the course, two(2) of our volunteer members were certified as Instructor Candidates and they continue the training process to complete their certification in the PBLS course as trainers.

On Sunday 27th of March, in the Training course Α.Τ.Κ.Α – Treatment of Trauma and Bleeding of the European College of Sports Physicians – ECOSEP, a total of 14 volunteer members of our branch participated. Our members were trained in theoretical and practical level in the following subjects:

  • Anatomy of the human body
  • Signs of injury
  • Trauma kinematics
  • Injuries from firearms and explosions
  • Injuries from pinned or cutting edge tools
  • Treatment of a chest injury
  • Injuries to the head and spine
  • Safe approach of an injured man
  • Assessment of an injured man
  • Shock points
  • Airway management
  • ventilation
  • Turning an injured man from the prone to the supine position
  • Neck guard application
  • Releasing an injured person from a vehicle in traffic accidents
  • Ischemic bandage (tourniquet)
  • Wound dressing
  • Simulation scenarios in assessment
  • Dealing with the injured.

We are very happy that we took part in this two-day training to gain knowledge, experience and optimise our skills and abilities.
