Rescue of 42 people from the rocky island of Barbalia in Lesvos
In the morning hours of Friday 23/02/24, Patrol Boat L.S.-EL.AKT. as part of his scheduled patrol, spotted a large number of foreigners on the islet of Barbalia in Lesvos.
The auxiliary vessel of the ship LS-EL.AKT. was immediately launched, which approached the islet and with the assistance of the Hellenic Rescue Team (E.O.D.), forty-two (42) persons were located and gathered, well to their health. The foreigners were safely transported to the port of Mytilini and then to the quarantine area of the KYT Kara Tepe ¨MAVROVOUNI¨. A preliminary investigation is carried out by the Central Port Authority of Mytilene.
