The Mayor of Mytilene, Stratis Kytelis, met today with members of the Lesvos Branch of the Greek Rescue Team.
The volunteers of the Lesvos Branch, established in 2001, wanted to have a first contact with the Mayor and expose him to the problems they face, as well as their business needs.
The Mayor of Mytilene, after listening to the members of HRT, assured that they will have his support in their valuable work in every way possible.
The volunteers congratulated the Mayor on his election, wished him good fortune and offered him a commemorative gift.
It should be emphasized that the HRT’s Lesvos Branch is made up entirely of volunteers who provide their services with professional conscience in emergency situations as well as in search and rescue operations.
Its boats are docked at the Mytilene Marina and can cover the greater maritime area of Lesvos within a radius of 20 nautical miles. More specifically, from the port of Mytilene to the north of the island in Cape Korakas, in the south to the port of Plomari and the gulf of Gera.
